Andrew’s Blu-ray Review: This latest instalment in the MARVEL STUDIOS franchise series for the film ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ 3D has a much darker tone with some much stronger themes, but is fast paced enough that it is all about the action and the characters and is an extraordinary juggling act. ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ 3D has more MARVEL STUDIOS superheroes than you can throw a mystical hammer at, and audience members should prepare to navigate just as many emotions.

The film is totally unique, and is also exceptional achievement that somehow leaves you both fully satisfied and desperate for more, and ranks among the best adventures we've seen yet from this stellar MARVEL STUDIOS film franchise and on top of all that, is stunning, hilarious, and heart-breaking at the same time and directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo creates a superhero film where nobody is safe.

‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ 3D is where this new picks up from the aftermath of the film ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ where the family has been divided, where Iron Man and Captain America had a climactic faceoff for the life of Captain America's best friend Bucky Barnes [Sebastian Stan], leaving Captain America a fugitive of the law and Bucky Barnes in the care of Black Panther in Wakanda. On top of all that, they will once again have to come together with the coming of the evil Thanos, and history tells us that these characters have travelled together which is very important to us and it is not something that just washes away.

The mad titan Thanos [Josh Brolin] begins his hunt for the most powerful objects in the universe, the Infinity Stones, in MARVEL STUDIOS highly anticipated ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ 3D. With the Space Stone, given by Loki [Tom Hiddleston], and the Power Stone, Thanos sends Ebony Maw [Tom Vaughan-Lawlor], Cull Obsidian [Terry Notary], Proxima Midnight [Carrie Coon] and Corvus Glaive [Michael James Shaw] to intercept a spaceship carrying the last survivors of Asgard. At the same time they have to retrieve the Time Stone from Doctor Strange [Benedict Cumberbatch] who for some unknown reason has a really weird stupid American accent, which would have sounded so much better in his proper native English accent, and then after that Thanos sends Proxima Midnight, and Corvus Glaive to retrieve the Mind Stone from Vision [Paul Bettany].

Meanwhile, Tony Stark [Robert Downey Jr.] meets up with Bruce Banner [Mark Ruffalo] and sorcerers Doctor Strange and Wong [Benedict Wong] and with the help from Peter Parker aka Spider-Man [Tom Holland], Tony Stark and Doctor Strange join forces together and agrees to stop Thanos at any cost.

In space, Thor [Chris Hemsworth] also joins forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord [Chris Pratt], Drax [Dave Bautista], Rocket [Bradley Cooper], Groot [Vin Diesel], Mantis [Pom Klementieff] and Gamora [Zoe Saldana], the daughter of Thanos who warns Thor of his awesome power. Thor travels away to defeat Thanos with Rocket and Groot while the other Guardians join forces with Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, and Peter Parker aka Spider-Man.

In Wakanda, Steve Rogers [Chris Evans] and his team, Black Widow [Scarlett Johansson], Falcon [Anthony Mackie], Scarlet Witch [Elizabeth Olsen], War Machine [Don Cheadle], and Bruce Banner to protect Vision and the Mind Stone in his forehead. With protection given from King T'Challa aka Black Panther [Chadwick Boseman], and his Wakandan army, Thanos will come for everyone to destroy half the universe.

Using the strength of its powerful and interesting villain, has set the stakes higher than ever, ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ 3D successfully brings together the past 10 years of MARVEL STUDIOS films into a largely effective cocktail of super-heroic dramatics. The fact that it manages to gives us nearly every member of our super heroes we so love and its admittedly packed to the gills with a plethora of an amazing cast that at least gives the film a moment to shine to its greatest feat. Sure, it ends on a cliff-hanger, but with those final moments, elevated the entire series in a poetic coup de grace, but as usual, the end of the film leaves you up in the air on tender hooks, as there will of course be a follow up film part 2, but of course when this will happen, you will have to wait and see, so watch this space for further future news from MARVEL STUDIOS.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR MUSIC TRACK LIST

BLACK PANTHER THEME (Lyrics by Ludwig Göransson)

3D Blu-ray Image Quality – Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and the MARVEL STUDIOS presents us with a stunning 1080p 3D image presentation and enhanced with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. You also get revealed totally brilliant details that reveal awesome definition especially natural skin textures on the actors faces. Throughout the film you also get to experience contestant fine intimate details with an amazing 3D depth of field. Black levels are rich and opulent with fantastic gradational differences in various areas of what you view. In fact, shadow details are outstanding during the darkest, poorly-lit conversations with each actor, and the opening scene aboard Thor's destroyed ship has even greater reference-quality moments, especially with the sudden burst of colours that are really vivid in the daylight scenes in the film. Overall, this is an amazing top-level 3D image presentation from the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and the MARVEL STUDIOS.

3D Blu-ray Audio Quality – Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and the MARVEL STUDIOS brings us a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio experience and it seems that Disney has for some unknown reason reduced the audio output, especially with my A/V Receiver, and I had to slightly crank up with sound level a few notches, as when the actors talk to each other face to face, the sound levels have a very low sound quality, and especially with the dialogue approaching whisper levels. But with the battle scenes, you certainly experience some fantastic dramatic surround sound activity, and especially with your back speakers working overtime and especially with certain scenes you get to experience ambient critical sound elements you get to hear in certain scenes. The film’s dramatic film music score moments in the film, really delivers what you would expect in the more intense scenes in the film and really delivers some really satisfying outputs in the more action packed scenes in the film, and is really dramatic in the outstanding battle scenes and when things fly about with Thanos and his evil cohorts, again people on planet Earth, and was really amazing and totally outstanding, especially with the battle scenes in the land of Wakandan’s army against Thanos’s marauding evil beasts. Despite the quiet sections in the film, the majority of the rest of the film’s audio experience was outstanding.

Blu-ray Special Features and Extras:

Audio Commentary with Directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, and Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely: Here we are presented with an in-depth look at the film 'AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR' 3D and this audio commentary. Up first to introduce themselves is directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo and, and then screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and hear to do an in-depth audio commentary on the film ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ 3D. At the start of the film, they inform us that they asked Sir Kenneth Branagh to do the audio distress signal; bust sadly had to turn the offer down. All you get to hear them talk about for about nine minutes at the start of the film, is utter and total vague nonsense and was to me totally confusing in what the hell they were talking about, but I suspect people in the film industry would know what they were talking about. The Russo brothers really liked the character Peter Quill/Star-Lord, in feeling he has the persona of Peter Pan, and especially having a Mother who when he was a child of 10, was dying of cancer and was kidnapped and raised by pirates, and they feel he is emotionally damaged, and they also feel the character of Gamora was the bravest person in the film, and at the same time feel the character Drax brings some comic relief, but with the Rocket, they feel is a very interesting character, who is very cynical about life in general, but as to Groot, they feel at this moment in time, is a typical belligerent teenager, and feels Mantis can be very funny at times when she speaks. But with this film, they wanted to split up the characters of the Guardians of the Galaxy, so they have to relate to the Avengers characters and vice versa, so they have to work together, later on in the film to defeat Thanos and his evil cohorts. With summing up, what seems to me that this audio commentary out of all is slightly boring because they kept on talking about technical garbage information about certain scenes in the film that went right over my head, and was getting totally pointless boring rhetoric. On top of all that, what really pissed me off was that they were all viewing an inferior DVD format disc for this audio commentary and even more infuriating, these idiots keep stating the obvious in what we are viewing, which of course this audio commentary was aimed at brain dead Americans, who have to be told what they viewing in the film and on top of all that, they have to keep repeating the same old garbage of information that we can work out for ourselves. So all in all, I can only give for this audio commentary a three star rating, and these commentators should go and listen to other Blu-ray audio commentaries that are far more sophisticated than what we have had to listen to this boring audio commentary.

Beyond the Battle: Wakanda [2018] [1080p] [1.78:1 / 2.39:1] [10:58] Once again we go behind-the-scenes to find out how the filmmakers pulled off the most massive and challenging battle scenes that MARVEL STUDIOS had ever attempted, where we visit an area of open ground near Atlanta in Georgia, that is a substitute for the land of WAKANDA. Here they talk about the logistic problem of filming in this location, especially regarding the unpredictable weather, where they experienced rain, sun, fog, cold, heat, in fact the experienced it all, and at times help up the filming, and the biggest challenge, especially when it rained, that it caused the ground to go horrendously muddy and impossible to work in. Contributors include: Anthony Russo [Director], Joe Russo [Director], Robert Downey Jr. [Tony Star/Iron Man], Chris Evans [Steve Rogers/Captain America], Chris Pratt [Peter Quill/Star-Lord], Karen Gillan [Nebula], Danai Guria [Okoye], Trinh Tran [Executive Producer], Kevin Feig, p.g.a. [Producer], Dan Deleeuw [Visual Effects Supervisor], Chadwick Boseman [T’Challa/Black Panther], Sam Hargrave [Stunt Coordinator], Sebastian Stan [Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier], Victoria Alonso [Executive producer], James Young [Fight Coordinator], Scarlett Johansson [Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow], Chris Hemsworth [Thor], Louis D’Esposito [Executive Producer], Judianna Makovsky [American Costume Designer], Mark Ruffalo [Bruce Banner/Hulk], Tom Hiddleston [Loki] and Paul Bettany [Vision].

Special Feature: Deleted Scenes [2018] [1080p] [2.39:1] [10:07] Here we get to view four deleted scenes separate items and they are as follows: Happy Knows Best [1:23]; Hunt for the Mind Stone [1:24], The Guardians Get Their Groove Back [3:20] and A Father’s Choice [4:00]. As usual, you can either watch each item separately or Play All.

Special Feature: Gag Reel [2018] [1080p] [1.78:1] [2:05] Once again we get the usual plethora of supposedly funny performances from the actors, but instead it is just a typical run of the mill stuff, with actors making themselves do not so funny antics. This is definitely the one to miss.

Finally, ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ 3D was the biggest, especially from the MARVEL STUDIOS and we can see in the end why and how it all came together. It also shows us why and how the directors, the writers and everyone else who came together via the MARVEL STUDIOS and orchestrated one of the greatest ensembles of super heroes you have ever wanted to see in one film, especially with the bonus of a conglomerate of very talented actors ever put together in the history of the MARVEL STUDIOS cinema. It is a unique, exceptional achievement that somehow leaves you both fully satisfied and desperately wanting more, and ranks among the best action packed cinema adventures we have yet seen so far, especially from this stellar MARVEL STUDIOS franchise and I cannot wait for the next thrilling adventure of hopefully ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ Part 2. Highly Recommended!
